mini switch cabinets in sewage treatment plant
Pre-wired to the wastewater treatment plant
A complicated installation between pumping stations and agitators is too time-consuming, cost-intensive and also disrupts the work on site. For this reason, the international electrical engineering general planner wanted the most convenient solution possible for preparing the control system for a sewage treatment plant (5 soccer fields in size) in Bahrain, Arabia.
The switch specialists from Kraus & Naimer had it. Developed according to a whole list of customer specifications, they assembled the ready-to-use mini switch cabinets directly in Karlsruhe, which can now be fully integrated into the sewage treatment plant. Main switches in 8 power ratings, different cable cross-sections and combinations of operating elements - countless different variants were built and pre-wired according to a precise plan.
Ready-made, but expandable
One of the requirements was: only one cable for the main and control circuits. For this reason, multicore cables were used. Instead of 2 or 3 cables, only one cable needs to be routed out of the mini control cabinet.
Nevertheless, it should be possible to add additional sensor cables. For this reason, additional free terminal blocks were fitted inside the enclosures, which can be connected on site if required.
Protecting the devices against external influences such as vapors or shocks ...
... was also an issue. That's why the choice fell on robust polyester enclosures with similar mechanical properties to metal. They are robust and weather-resistant and reliably protect the inner workings.
Together with additional main switches and emergency stop buttons in the enclosure, 160 fully assembled parts left the Karlsruhe plant on time for Bahrain.
More than standard
Kraus & Naimer not only develops and produces standard switches and components for the modular system, but also customized electrical switches of all kinds, pre-wired switching components, pre-assembled modules and individual functional handles.
